Snow and then silver freeze

We had a doozy of a week here in Washington. First we got a big snow storm... accumulation of about 6 inches of snow. So we missed 2 days of school because of snow. So we made a few snow men and I got a workout in shoveling the driveway.

Then the freezing rain came and set us into a silver thaw which caused major power outages from trees falling. We lost power at our house from Thursday to Sunday morning. Some people went longer. It was weird having the top layer of snow look like water. We missed 2 more days due to no power.

This is the amount of ice we got on the tree in the front of the house.

We finally got back to normal this week and then we got a big wind storm last night. A few of our friends lost power again for the day today. We are so grateful that we have a generator which kept us warm and entertained during our power outage. I do have to say I am ready for a beach...Eimi can we join you guys??

Princess Paige

For Christmas Paige got a princess dress from Grandma Debbie. She also got a couple tutu type skirts and so she put both of those on under her princess dress to make it poofier. She loves being a princess right now.

Christmas was on a Sunday this year. So we woke up and did stockings first. Then after eating breakfast and getting ready for church we let the girls open 2 gifts before church.

Christmas dresses

Santa brought Hayle and Paige both skates. Paige tried them out before church.

After church we ate lunch and then finished opening.

Then the Whislers and Great Grandma Kay and Great Grandpa Paul came over for a prime rib dinner and Christmas round 2.

We had a great time with family for Christmas and we all received some great things. Hayle and Paige definitely got spoiled.

Christmas Eve

For Christmas Eve we went up and had dinner at the Whislers. We had a crab dinner which was yummy. Paige played us some music on the recorder.

The girls opened their christmas PJs. Paige wanted her hair curly for church the next day so we put it in curlers while Doug read Twas the Night before Christmas.

Christmas with Jeremiah and family

Since Jeremiah and Kariah went to Arizona for Christmas we had Christmas with them before the left. Penny, Doug and Braly came. My mom and dad had already flown in. It was good to see Savanah open presents on her first Christmas.

Hayle tried to entertain and read to Savannah. I don't think it lasted very long.

Savannah got the book from Hallmark that you read to and then the Husky barks. Hayle and Paige thought it was great.

Cookie making and decorating

We made sugar cookies again this year for christmas and decorated them. Paige got her outfit right for baking.

Then I had help in the kitchen...probably too much... at least they lost interest quickly and I got to finish.

Then we decorated the baked cookies with a cute helper who made sure all the sprinkles made noises.

Jeremiah and Kariah had a wedding that they were taking pictures at in Bonney Lake. They asked us to watch Savannah. Hayle had a great time playing with her and made my babysitting job very easy.

Hayle's class made gingerbread houses. This is her house. She had a great time decorating it and wanted to take it home with her on the bus instead of having me take it when I left work.

Hayle school music concert

Hayle's school had a concert by the 2 and 3 graders. They performed at the high school which was not better for room. It was pretty crowded still. Hayle got to play an instrument for part of the concert. It was cute.

Paige's first lost tooth

Paige lost her first tooth. She was eating an apple and her bottom tooth came out in the apple. She was in tears because she didn't know it was loose and didn't know that it was supposed to come out. I did realize that she even had a loose tooth. She couldn't leave the tooth alone under her pillow and lost it before the tooth fairy could make it. She wrote a note to the tooth fairy explaining about it and the tooth fairy was nice enough to give her money but did tell her that if she lost any teeth that she wouldn't be able to give her any money for her teeth.

New addition

We have a new addition to our house. This is Appah. Nathan inherited him from his friend at Sushi Town. He is a while german sheppard who is about 4 years old. He is Nathan's white shadow. I am glad we don't have to deal with the puppy phase but the cat and I are not huge fans of a dog in the house. Nathan is loving having him and Paige likes having something else to boss around.

Miriam's Baby shower

I got to drive to the Tri Cities by myself for Miriam's baby shower. It was great to see Rochelle and Miriam without having to worry about the girls. :) Miriam will make a great mom. Thanks for Rochelle and Miriam for always keeping me in the loop.

Halloween

We carved Pumpkins the Sunday before Halloween. Neither one was too sure about getting the pumpkin guts out.

Paige picked out a cat for her pumpkin and Hayle picked out a witch.

On Halloween the girls got all dressed up. Hayle was a blue fairy. Paige was a cupcake maker.

First we went to the church for trunk or treating. Paige found out that she matched and had the same costume as Lucy. A cute little girl in our ward that is the daughter of a good friend of mine.

After trunk or treating we went over the the Berglind's for a quick dinner and then trick or treating in their neighborhood. Paige and Hayden started out fast and were excited. The girls wore out after about an hour so we headed back to the house and went home. Nathan got to stay at the house with Matt and hand out candy with Lucy. I was glad they were tired out at an hour because that was when I was done too. They both got their buckets full of candy.

Exciting news

In September I started working as a nurse at the girls' school. The current nurse was out on a medical leave and I got hired as a long term sub. I have been a lot busier but it has been nice to be at least on the same schedule as the kids and to be getting paid more than working at the gym. We also get medical insurance. I am hired through December 16th for now with the possibility of longer or shorter tem depending on if the person comes back from medical leave. The girls love to have me at their school although I don't see them as often as I thought I would. :) Which is a good thing.

First day of school

First day of school for the 2011-12 school year. Paige started kindergarten. She is in a full time kindergarten class with Mrs Flaherty. Hayle is in a 3rd grade class with Mrs Hamlett. Hayle had a great time playing big sister and making sure she was on the bus safely. :)

I drove to the school to meet the girls. Paige wasn't sure what to do when she first got off and didn't see me.

Boat trip

This year we went on our summer boat trip up in the San Juans. We started the weekend before my birthday and spent the night in Anacortes so that we could eat my birthday dinner at Anthony's. Then we went to Roach Harbor. The girls had fun swimming and driving Micks dingy around in the bay.

Then we went to Sucia Island. The girls got to go play on a beach.

We got to see an awesome sunset.

Then we went through Bellingham Bay area on our way down to Rosario.

At Rosario I got to go to the spa. The girls got to feed some deer.

We had a great trip. It was a little more low key then the previous trips and we got a lot of down time. We actually had great weather for the trip though.

Summer swim lessons

Hayle and Paige both got to take swim lessons during the summer at the Enumclaw pool. Both are doing great. Hayle started diving off the side which she thought was fun. She is also working on swimming more strokes than just crawl stroke.

As part of the safety training they practiced throwing the ring to each other and pulling someone in. This was Hayle's turn to pull someone in.

Paige loves going to swim lessons. She is starting to be able to swim a few yards on her own.

Hayle's new bike

Hayle decided that she was ready to try riding without training wheels. So we tried it. She was able to do it and so we bought her a new bike so that Paige would still be able to ride a bike and the old one was too small for Hayle anymore anyway.

I don't totally remember what she was mad about. I think she wanted me to carry her into the house and I wouldn't do it. So she sat out in the garage pouting. It happens quite a bit when she doesn't get her way.

Paige's birthday party

Paige chose to have a cowgirl birthday party. She had a horse cake.

They made some horse necklaces first.

Then they played pin the tail on the donkey. Paige managed to win. I don't think she was peaking but I am not positive either.

Paige was asking for days for a pinata for her birthday party and we found one that matched the cowgirl theme.

We flew home from Albuquerque on Paige's birthday. She picked out one of her new dresses to wear on the plane. She told the stewardesses that it was her birthday on both flights. One of them gave her some extra snacks and a candy bar as her birthday treat. That night we went out for sushi (her pick) with Nathan. Since we were flying i didn't have time to make her a cake but saw this at the grocery store and it was just what she wanted. A rainbow cake. She loves rainbows and all the colors. She still loves wearing dresses all the time. She is a very smart girl. Still very stubborn. She is very excited to start school. She loves her birthday. She talks about it all the time and invites her friends to her birthday all the time. We love having our special happy girl in our family.

Albuquerque Trip

After our week in Durango we drove to Albuquerque to spend a couple nights before we flew out so the girls could see Great Grandma Kay and Great Grandpa Paul's house and where Grandma Debbie grew up. We took a walk out on the rocks that Grandma Debbie used to play on. We stayed out there until we saw a lightning storm coming in and headed back to the house.

The next day we went to old town in Albuquerque. We walked around a little until Hayle and Paige couldn't stand the heat anymore.

Then we went to the museum of Natural History to see the dinosaur bones...

Then we headed to the Children's museum that was across the street from the natural history museum.

We also drove down to the "little house" that Grandma Debbie lived in as a girl for a little bit while they built the house they live in now.

That evening we went to Olive Garden for dinner to celebrate Paige's birthday with Great Grandma Kay and Great Grandpa Paul. Paige got to have some chocolate cake which she loved. She also got to open a present from Great Grandma Kay and Great Grandpa Paul.

Durango

After Wyoming and Amanda's we drove to Durango with mom to visit for a week. Grandma Kay and Grandpa Paul also drove up to visit. So Hayle and Paige got to help walk Molly. We went swimming a few times. We also celebrated Paige's birthday early so we could celebrate with Grandpa John.

We also got to have icecream. Paige loves her chocolate icecream. ;)

Trip to Wyoming

This July Hayle, Paige and I got to go on a trip to visit everyone. First we flew into Salt Lake where my mom picked us up. We then drove to Rock Springs, Wyoming to visit Amanda. We had never seen her house or where she lived at. We went swimming at her rec center, read books and stayed out of the heat. We got to drive up to the Mustag rescue and look around which was neat. The girls were not thrilled with the heat but loved spending time with Amanda.

Circus

We got to go see the circus in Tacoma. I can't remember the name of the circus. I found some cheap tickets through Groupon and we decided to go. It almost got rained out. They had an elephant, ponies, acrobats, clowns and a tightrope walker. Not hugely impressive but not bad.

4th of July on Lake Union

We got to spend 4th of July on the boat on Lake Union again. This time is was nice and sunny and warm. So it was fun to do some swimming and watching of fire works. We had a great spot again close to the barge for fireworks.

Rock and Roll half marathon #2

Penny and I were able to run the Seattle Rock and Roll Half marathon again this year. Penny had some foot troubles so we didn't stay together much. I was able to cut my time by 5 mintues. I finished in 2 hours and 15 minutes. We already registered for next year.

Afterwards the clouds cleared off and we took Hayle and Paige down to the beach by Penny's house. The water was freezing but Paige loves walking in the water so much that she said that it wasn't cold at all.

Hayle and Paige did dance this past year at Dancemaker's. They do their dress rehersals on the stage where they will be performing. I missed getting a picture of Hayle's Jazz class but have one of the performance. Paige was in a tumblinia class. Hayle did jazz and ballet. Both did a great job!

Penny's Chickens

Penny got some new backyard chickens. Paige loved carrying them around and herding them. Hayle took a more standoffish approach. Paige decided after herding them that she wants to be a farm girl. Amanda and Shane were in town for Braly's graduation from high school. Paige talked Shane into sitting in a chair while she lined up all the chickens on his lap. He ended up having to go change his pants. Paige is the new "chicken whisperer".

Paige graduated from preschool. They had a cute program. Each family had to make a hat for the girls and a boutonniere for the boys with things that tell about the child. Paige loved her flower hat with a mermaid, horses and turtles and lots of pink flowers. My mom was able to be in town for it also which was nice. I can't believe our little Paige is no longer a preschooler.

Paige got to go on a field trip to the Lake Tapps fire boats. We got to ride on one of the boat and they got to try out the water nozzel. They also covered some fire safety. At least it was a nice sunny day.

Vegas Trip for Mother's day

For Mother's Day weekend we went to Las Vegas to meet up with my parents. They were there so that my dad could watch the finals of Supercross and they had an extra room with their timeshare so they invited us to come. We could only do a long weekend but it was nice to see them and get away. While Nathan and my dad were watching Supercross my mom and I took the girls to see the garden at the Bellagio and then to see the fountains.

On mother's day we came back to the Bellagio for their buffet. It was good not sure if worth the price but it was good. Then the following day we went to the Mirage to see the Secret Garden there. It was neat to see the tigers up close and also the dolphins.

My mom got Nathan and I tickets to the Blue Man Group show for our anniversary so we went to go see that also while we were there. We had a great time. I wish we could have stayed longer since the really sunny and warm days were after we left but we had to get back to school and work.

I got to go to Time Out For Women this year in Seattle with a group of friends from church and spend the night in Seattle. It was great listening to all the speakers. Hayle and Paige got to go spend the night at Penny's house and I don't think missed me at all. They got to make pizza with Doug and go for a walk on the beach with Penny, ate icecream and then went to the waterski lake the next day with Penny and Doug. It was great for me to get a break and also hear some wonderful inspirational talks. Here are a few of the pictures of the presenters.

John Bytheway gave a talk Friday night about Choosing to Become.

Mariama Kallon gave an amazing talk about being happy in what situation you are in because you never know why you are there. She is from Sierra Leone and had some amazing stories.

Michael McLean did a muscial presentation on Friday night that was good.

Saturday the musical presentation part was by Mercy River. They had some good songs. The best was when they did a bedtime song version of Bye Bye Bye by Nsync that was hilareous.

While I was at TOFW. Hayle and Paige got to spend the night at the Whislers. They got to go to the beach so that Paige could go "marching in the ocean". Hayle chose to stay out of the frigid water.

Saturday after we did the egg hunt we came home and decorated eggs. Hayle and Paige did a great job!

I didn't end up taking any pictures of the egg hunt. We did plastic eggs outside. Then after church we had Jeremiah, Kariah and Savannah over for dinner. I still need to get some more pictures from Jeremiah of the girls in their dresses because I didn't get my camera out. Here is one I took off their blog before Savannah decided she was done with picture taking right after this one was taken.

Paige field trip to Windmill Gardens

Paige's preschool went on another field trip. This time to Windmill Gardens which is a nursery and more in Sumner. All the kids had a great time looking at all the flowers and plants. At the end they each got to plant on in a little container to take home. I am not sure why Paige was so grumpy about that part. Probably because she didn't get the flower she wanted. Her teacher ended up planting her flower for her.

Nathan crashed

If you don't like blood... don't look at the following pictures. Nathan was racing in Odessa and crashed on his motorcycle. His motorcycle decided to leave an imprint on his hand. He ended up braking the bone inside his palm that connects the pinky finger to the wrist. He ended up getting a cast on for a few weeks and is healing fine. He now has a nice M shaped scar on his hand.

Great Grandma Kay

For Activity Days the girls got to pick a grandparent to do a presentation on. Hayle picked to do Great Grandma Kay. She called her up and asked her a list of questions. We put together a poster a realized that we need to get more pictures of Great Grandma Kay from her. Hayle did a great job. The room was full of people which is why she started out so quiet and not wanting to do it.

Aubrie's horse party

We have some good friends that have a daughter Hayle's age and a son Paige's age. Aubrey the daughter had her birthday party at a horse farm/ riding thing in Buckley this year and both girls were invited. They both had a great time. They got to pet horses, ride in a little carriage and go for a ride on a horse.

I kept hearing strange noises in our backyard. It was not the peacocks that are down the street but it sounded similar and they were much to close to be the peacocks also. One morning we looked out the window and figured out what was making the noise. We have a pheasant that adopted our backyard. (I am actually writing this post over 2 months after we first saw it and he is still in our yard quite a bit of the time.) Nathan keeps saying we should kill it and eat it. I am not sure I want to because I don't know how it would taste.

The day after Hayle got baptized we got to go see Savannah get blessed at Jeremiah and Kariah's ward. It was fun to have everyone together to celebrate two special things in these two girls' lives.

Hayle's baptism

Hayle ended up getting to have her baptism day all to herself. The other kids that were going to be baptized with her on the stake day ended up not being able to because of family needs. Grandpa John gave the talk on the holy ghost that included a beautiful quilt that Grandma Debbie got made for Hayle to help her remember the Holy Ghost. Aunt Amanda gave the talk on baptism. She had lots of family and friends come to support her. She was baptized by Nathan. She was very excited to get baptized and ended up having to get dunked twice because her foot floated up the first time. Grandma Debbie also gave Hayle her very own set of scriptures that she loves having. We are so proud of our beautiful Hayle for making this decision and trying to hard to do what is right.

Hayle's birthday party - Skating!!

This year for Hayle's birthday she got to have a skating party at a skating rink in Puyallup. We modified a ballerina bear cake pan to make her a skating bear. Hayle had 6 friends come and one brought her little brother who is Paige's friend. They had a great time skating, eating pizza and having cake.

Paige had fun skating by herself. Her skates were tightened up so much that they barely moved. :)

Paige field trip to Albertsons

Paige's class went on a field trip to Albertsons. They got to try some meat and cheese from the deli (Paige didn't try any), look at vegetables and try some bell peppers (Paige didn't), hold a dead crab and lobster and got a little treat bag at the end. It was a cute field trip, one I would have never thought of. :) It was also St. Patrick's day that day so that is why all the kids have green on.

For Hayle's birthday we had a quiet dinner at home. She is going to have a birthday party in a few days so we didn't do a whole lot. She got some dresses for church from Grandma Debbie and a Taylor Swift CD from Nathan and I. Paige gave her a sparkly pink belt.

Hayle was born! I can't believe it has actually been that long. She is a great girl. She is very helpful and caring of others. She is still very stubborn and likes things to go her way. She gets to have a roller skating birthday party this weekend and next weekend she gets baptized for our church. She has gotten a little less shy around people. She loves school, reading, drawing and dance class. We are so glad to have Hayle in our family!!

Hayle and Paige went to the dentist for their cleaning and exams. Both are in the no cavity club and doing a great job taking care of their teeth. They look so small and funny in the x-ray chair that I had to take a picture of them. :)

Paige field trip to the Vet

Paige's field trip class went to the Vet in Sumner for a field trip. We got to tour around the office. We saw the rooms that they do exams in, the area they do procedures in and a few operating rooms. We saw where dogs get therapy and also where they have a boarding area for dogs also. Across the parking lot they have a dog training area and so we went there and got to see a lady who works there have her dogs run the course. It was very interesting. Paige loved seeing all the dogs. Grandma Debbie got to come with us this time since she was in town to help Jeremiah and Kariah with Savannah.

Aunt Amanda and the Children's museum

Amanda came to visit to see Jeremiah and Kariah's new baby and to see us since she had a 4 day weekend. We went up to Seattle to pick up Nathan's passport since he waited too long to renew it before he needed it so we took the girls to the Children's Museum and let them play for a little while.

Saturday we went took Hayle and Paige to see Gnomeo and Juliet. It was better then I thought it would be. That was about all we did since Hayle ended up coming down with a cough and a fever and Amanda ended up with strep throat right before she got here.

Hayle ended up having to stay home all week because she couldn't shake her fever to get it back to normal. I took her in to the doctor Thursday since it had been almost a week and it ended up that she had pneumonia. She is on antibiotics and her temperature is staying down better but it is not normal yet. Her energy level however has not changed. I have to force her to stay down and take naps so she is really not very sick I guess or we caught it early. :) Hopefully by Monday her temperature will be normal so she can go back to school. On top of her being home sick we also got snow so Paige missed two days of preschool because of snow. I am ready to get back to our normal schedule.

Jeremiah and Kariah had their baby!! Her name is Savannah Kay. She is very cute with dark hair. Hayle and Paige loved holding her. They kept fighting over who's turn it was. We are excited to have a cousin close to us.

Nathan did a booth for work at the Sportsman show in Puyallup. They had a free fishing pond so we took Hayle and Paige. They both caught 2 trout each (the max you could catch) so we had fresh trout for dinner that night. Not my favorite but the girls finally got to do some fishing. :)

Paige's preschool class went on a field trip to the Bonney Lake Firestation. It was neat to walk though the station. They demonstarated their alarms and the kids got to climb in a firetruck. One fireman also dressed up in his gear and the kids went up to see him... Paige did not like that so much. She wounldn't go up near him. I think she liked it though because she said that when she is big she wants to be a mom and a firegirl now.

Paige and I were going into Fred Meyers the other day and saw the Oscar Meyer Wiener mobile. There wasn't a display or anything just parked there randomly I guess. Who knows. Kinda funny to see that it is still out there.

Uncle Aaron's bike racing

Saturday before we left California we went to the Auto Club Speedway (used to be California Speedway) to watch Aaron practice for his race the next day.

We went out in the middle so we could see the turns better. Aaron is the middle motorcycle in this picture.

Hayle and Paige were not as interested in it as Nathan was. This is what they were doing.

Then we drove back home. We drove over 3600 miles for our Arizona and California trips. Our trip home took 4 hours longer then planned because of the trailer so it was probably about 55 to 57 hours of driving total just for getting to our destinations. We had a great trip though and it was good to see family but it is good to be home too. :)

Disneyland day 4 - last day

We ended up spending another night at Disneyland on Thursday night so that we could cut back on some of the back and forth. Friday morning we went and did Splash Mountian and the Matterhorn rides. There was no line at all for Splash Mountian since it was first thing in the morning and still a little cold. The girls did not like that ride very much but we told them they had to try each ride at least once. Paige was in front of me and then Hayle and then Nathan. Paige got the wettest.

After splash mountian we did the Winnie the Pooh ride.

Then we went and did the Thunder Mountian railroad which was Hayle's 2nd favorite ride. Paige didn't like that one either. After that we went and stood in line for the princesses again since Paige hadn't seen Aurora yet who is her favorite princess.

While we were waiting for Nathan who was in line getting a Turkey leg we saw Mary Poppins walk by. They were on their way out of the park so they were moving fast and this was the best I could get.

On our way out of the park we saw Gepetto from Pinoccio.

Mickey Mouse was there too but his line was really long so we didn't stand and wait since we had already seen him.

We went over to California Adventure to watch the Aladdin show. While we were waiting in line we saw Sully from Monsters Inc walk by. His hands are too big to sign so we didn't want to go wait in line to get a picture with him.

This was the stage for the Aladdin show. It was a condensned play (45 min). It was really good and fun to see.

We had a great time at Disneyland and I would love to go again. We will have to wait a couple years for them to finish working on the Ariel exhibit and Cars exhibit in California Adventure and so that we can save up more money.

Disneyland day 3/California Adventure

Thursday Amber and Aaron joined us to do California Adventure. Since the didn't get there until about 11 we went and did a few rides in Disneyland while we were waiting for them.

When we walked in the park we saw Chip and Dale.

Then we went and did the Finding Nemo ride.

and then we did Autotopia. I drove Hayle and Nathan drove Paige. Hayle didn't want to drive it.

Then we went over to California Adventure. Nathan ended up getting a wheelchair for the day since his back was hurting him.

We did almost all of the rides in this park. First we did Muppets and Monsters Inc. Then Nathan, Aaron and Amber went and did Tower of Terror.

Afterwards we did Soaring over California Adventure and then went to Bug's Land and did some rides and watched the Bug's Life show in 3D.

After that we went over to the Disneyland Hotel to have dinner at Goofy's Kitchen

We got to meet Goofy and get pictures and then went upstairs to have dinner and meet some of Goofy's friends.

First we saw Belle.

Then there was some dancing. Captian Hook was bustin moves.

Then we saw Chip and Dale again seperatly but I just put one picture up.

Minne Mouse was there but since we had just seen her earlier we didn't sit and wait for her to come see us. The girls did get to give her hugs on the way out though.

In one of the hallways they have an old autotopia car so Aaron took Hayle for a "ride".

Disneyland day 2

Wednesday we headed back to Disneyland for all day there and to spend the night so we didn't have to have an hour drive back to Aaron's house. First we went to the Princess fair to see Princesses.

Then we went and did It's a Small World ride which Hayle said was her favorite ride. They hadn't de-Christmased it yet so the song was broke up with some Christmas songs which was nice.

After that we went to do the teacups.

While we were on the teacups Alice and the Mad Hatter showed up in the corner so we went to go see them.

Then we did a few more rides in Fantasyland and then went to go see Rapunzel. They had a little house set up for her and a tower that looked like her's.

I think she gets a room of her own because she can't walk around with all that hair.. :)

Paige really wanted to do the carousel so we did that..

After that we walked over to California Adventure park to eat dinner at Ariel's Grotto and see the World of Color show. It was really neat and made the fountians at the Bellagio in Las Vegas look like a drinking fountian.

San Diego Zoo

Tuesday we took a break from Disneyland and Amber, Hayle, Paige and I went to the San Diego Zoo as Grandma Debbie's treat.

My favorite... the panda bears. They had this one and a mom and her cub in the enclosure next to this one. The cub kept bitting the mom and the mom would swat it back.. guess kids are turds and get in trouble even if you are a bear. :)

We saw lots of other animals and did a lot of walking. Hayle and Paige picked out a stuffed animal each since we had a little bit left over from the money from Grandma Debbie. Hayle got a flamingo and Paige got a peacock.

Disneyland day 1

After the wedding we drove to California to stay with Amber and Aaron and go to Disneyland. Our first day at Disneyland we went on a couple rides. We took the girls on Space Moutain and they didn't like that very much. :)

We waited for the parade. We went on that Monday because it was the last day of the Christmas parade and the only day while we were there that they were going to do the Pixar parade.

Finally the parade started...

Cinderella's stepmother and stepsisters walked in the front of the Princesses and Princes dancing. The red headed one came over to Hayle and Paige since they have red hair too.

After the parade we went to go see Tinkebell and friends.

After the pixar parade in California adventures we came back over to watch the fireworks in Disney. By that point my camera battery had died to I didn't get any pictures of the fireworks since my iphone camera is just not quite that good.

Uncle Jeremy's wedding

The night before there was such warm temperatures. This was when we were on the way back to the motel from dinner... probably about 8:30pm.

The next day was the wedding in Show Low. The wedding was at 11:00 am on 1/1/11. It was short and sweet. Nathan was asked the night before to be the best man so with a borrowed suit jacket he stood up with Jeremy.

After the wedding they had a luncheon for the family. While we were waiting for lunch Grandma Joanne had the kids do a pinata that she brought from Mexico.

Then we went back to motel room for some swimming and rest time before the reception at 6:00pm. Scott and Nathan had a race in the pool and Grandma Joanne had a nap while watching the kids.

Right when the reception was starting we had to move out of our motel because they had a sprinkler pipe burst and were having trouble getting it shut off. So there was a good waterfall going in the stairwell. So Nathan was at the reception in the receiving line and I packed up the room and with help from his uncles we moved to another motel.

Then off to the reception for some cake and dancing.

Nathan got his uncle Greer to sing I'm a little teapot for donations to Jeremy and Kyla. (make sure you go stop the music at the bottom of the blog before pushing play) It was pretty funny. Hey There Delilah from Jessie's wedding still is the best I think.

It was definitely a wedding we will never forget between the snow storms and trip to get there and the motel adventures.

Our Drive to Arizona

We left a couple days after Christmas to drive to Arizona for Nathan's brother's wedding that was going to be on New Years day. We woke up to a couple inches of snow for us and a bad forcast for snow for our entire drive. Here are a few pictures of our drive. We did it in 2 days and since Nathan was driving it didn't slow us down too much. We didn't end up hitting any closed roads at all because of weather so we lucked out that way but it didn't make for a very relaxing drive.

Paige's balancing talents

Paige is great at stalling when it is bed time. One night when we was supposed to be in bed she was in the bathroom going potty and then working on this before we went up and told her to get back into bed. I don't think I could even balance this. She had two little sand timers on the bottom with a jar of vicks in the middle and then a water bottle that was at least half full on the top. Crazy Paige.

Christmas!!

We got up at least mostly normal time in the morning. Paige and Hayle were both told to come to me before they went downstairs. Hayle did. Paige... well she went downstairs with Grandma Debbie and told her that I didn't care.... little stinker.

Santa came!!

The girls got to open their stockings while breakfast cooked.

Jeremiah and Kariah came over in the morning and joined us for waffels for breakfast and opening presents.

The girls' big present this year was that Nathan and I gave them tickets to go to Disneyland after we went to Nathan's brother Jeremy's wedding. Paige didn't totally understand at the moment and Hayle took a while for it to sink in.

Then we hung out at home for the afternoon and watched movies. Amanda got Hayle a neat crayola toy thing that her and Hayle were coloring on during the movie. Hayle was doing the inside part and so that Amanda could reach Hayle wore the top part on her head. :)

Then we had the Phillips,Whislers, the Souders and Lancasters come for dinner of prime rib. (Still working on getting a 10 rating from Nathan on that one.) Then we got to have a second Christmas with the people that weren't with us on Christmas morning

It was a great Christmas. Hayle and Paige both got pillow pets from Santa. The elves had made a mistake and put the pillow pet (a unicorn) that Paige had asked for in Hayle's bag and the one Hayle asked for (a ladybug) in Paige's bag. Paige got very upset and would not open any more presents until Hayle switched her. She wouldn't even open that bag that the ladybug pillow pet was in. Opps. :)

Christmas Eve

Our Christmas Eve day started out with putting reindeer food on the front lawn for Santa's deer before we left for the Nutcracker play.

After the play we went to Penny's house for dinner and hanging out. The girls played toys and watched some Christmas movies on TV. Hayle showed us how flexible she is.

We had dinner and talked. We realized that we don't fit around one table very well anymore. Especially since we were missing 2 people and we have a new baby coming to the family next year. (my mom's side of the family)

The girls opened their Christmas PJ's to wear on Christmas eve and then we watched the Night before Christmas movie on TV before we left to drive home so Hayle and Paige could go to bed so Santa could come.

The nutcracker

Grandma Kay took whoever wanted to go to see the Nutcracker Ballet in Seattle. Of course both girls wanted to go. We went on Christmas Eve in the afternoon. Both girls loved watching the ballet. Hayle got to sit next to her best friend Lily because they joined our group so we could all get a group discount. Paige was very into it also. It was her first time going. When the ballerina doll came out on stage at the begining she told me.. "I want to be that when I am bigger." Thank you to Grandma Kay!! The girls and I went, Grandma Kay, my parents, my brother and his wife and Amanda from our family went.

Cookie baking day

We baked sugar cookies the day before and then gingerbread cookies that morning. Hayle had a friend over in the afternoon and so we decorated cookies. I didn't get a picture of the girls in process but here is the aftermath.

While we were making gingerbread cookies Paige and Hayle were concerned about one jumping off the tray and running away since they both love the Gingerbread Boy story. Paige had her horse set up blocking the back door and Hayle made a trap. Paige was a little disappointed that none ran off. Hayle said to me later "it is just a fairytale huh mom." It was pretty cute while they were preparing though.

Hayle had her music program at school. It was the 2nd and 3rd graders. I was not able to make that evening because of the Relief Society Progressive Dinner that I went to but Paige and I went in the afternoon to watch their practice and performance for the school. Her class sang a song and then played instruments while another class sang a song. She did a great job!!

We got to visit with Santa last night at the ward christmas party. The girls were not afraid of him at all just decided not to look at me when I was taking the pictures. They both had a couple things they asked for. Hayle asked for rollerskates, a Zhu Zhu pets DS game, and a ladybug pillow pet. Paige asked for a unicorn pillow pet and the Barbie Mermaid movie.

Sumner Santa Parade

This year Hayle's and Paige's dance studio had a float in the Sumner and Puyallup Santa Parades. We just went on the float with the Sumner parade. Nathan also drove a tractor in it for Brim. I rode on the float with Hayle and Paige and Nathan was a few entries behind us on the tractor. It was a fun day. We got off our float at the end and got to watch the last half of the parade and see Santa at the end.

swim lessons

Hayle and Paige have been doing swim lessons on Saturdays for the past 6 weeks. They are both doing a great job. They both had small classes. The only bummer this time was that we had a half hour between classes, it made for a long time for me.

She went off the diving board but had to be lifted down. She is a little braver then Hayle at this age but still not enough to go off by herself. :)

First snow of the year

We had a big snow storm this week. It started on Sunday and stopped snowing Tuesday. We ended up with the most of 7 inches at one time but probably about 10 inches overall. The girls had a great time playing in it and Hayle got 3 snow days already. Hopefully we are not going to be going to school until July to make up for snow days by the end of the winter.

We had a new pet sitting under Nathan's truck the other day.... a duck! It was there for a couple days but we haven't seen it for about a week now. Odd thing to be randomly walking around. :)

Halloween

Saturday before Halloween we went to the church for our trunk or treat. I didn't end up getting any pictures while we were there but the girls had fun going around the parking lot to the trunks of cars to get candy. For Halloween we went to Hayle's friend Lily's neighborhood and walked with Lily and her sister and her dad for an hour and then we were done.

Hayle decided she wanted to be a peacock this year for halloween. So this is the costume we came up with. Paige says she wants to be that next year so I think I am going to order some more peacock feathers to fill in the front like the back so the white doesn't show through.

Paige wanted to be a unicorn and I found a great costume at Goodwill that kept her warm.

Paige's crazy hair day

At Paige's preschool instead of having the kids wear their costumes they had them do a crazy hair day. This is what we did for Paige's hair. We should have done more but ran out of time. She did not want her picture taken that morning. :) Hayle's school had one also but she missed school that day because she had a stomach flu.

School skate night

Hayle's school did a skate night. We went since it was the first time that I didn't have something else going on the same night. I didn't end up skating. Maybe next time. Nathan would take the girls one at a time at first and then at the end he ended up doing both of them. They both had a great time and now Hayle wants roller skates for christmas. :)

At one point they were doing the hokey pokey in the middle of the floor and Nathan was out there with Hayle. Paige was sitting with me and decided that she wanted to go do it too so she bravely went across the floor by herself to go do the hokey pokey. The picture didn't turn out at all but it was too cute. She fell twice and both times picked herself back up and she made it!!

We did better this year and carved pumpkins at least a week before Halloween. :) We had to spend some time on the internet looking for stensils for Hayle because she couldn't find the perfect one. Paige picked out 3 or 4 in the time it took Hayle to find 1. Hayle's is the big one and Paige's is the smaller one.

Hayle lost her other front tooth now. She has just the tinest lisp which is very funny if you can catch it. Her teeth might come in before Christmas since that is still 2 months away so we may not get to have her listen to the song.

Paige's preschool had their first field trip this week. We went to Maris Farms Pumpkin Patch. Paige had a great time.

Hayle lost the first of the top front teet. The other one is loose and will probably be coming out any time now and she just found another tooth on the bottom that is loose. I told her soon she is going to be toothless. At least with this one we got it baby tooth out before the big tooth came in . :)
